About Dogs of War
Where did it come from?
One day in late 2018, husband and wife Chad and Hailey Rodgers were talking, sharing their mutual interest in dogs and dog breeds. Chad decided to scribble some stats onto some blank cards, and their kids doodled some drawings for them. This was the beginning of the card game Dogs of War. Fast forward to present day, after hours of research, billions of ideas, a myriad of drawings, and several play tests later, the work-in-progress game consists of 600+ functional cards, making up a large base game and several expansion packs.
About the Game
Dogs of War is a medium weight competitive, goal-oriented card game in which each player assembles their own pack of dogs and race each other to gather resources, have pups, claim territory, and fight to keep what's theirs. Tactics change based on what cards you draw, meaning each individual's goals may be different each time, but the over-arching point is still the same: develop your own doggy civilization before the other players. Since we are currently still in alpha testing, we don't want to reveal too much as far as game mechanics, so check back soon!
The Story Behind It
As the game's development progressed, a story began to grow based around some of the strange cards we invented. Where were all the humans? What caused all these weird weather events? How could dogs do things without thumbs?! It was fun coming up with the "why" behind the cards. So much so, that we have decided to create a comic based on it! We also don't want to give too much info on this, but essentially, the setting of the game is a post-apocalyptic world in the near future. Humans are gone, animals have mutated, and dogs have become self-aware. The comic will show what happened to arrive at this point; the card game allows you to play out what happens next!
